Dick Clark New Years Eve Party 2011

dick clarkDick Clark New Years Eve 2011 includes Ryan Seacrest, Jenny McCarthy and Fergie.

Dick Clark is not letting his stroke slow him down. He still shows up every New Year’s Eve in Time Square to count down to the New Year and watch the ball drop. While there is plenty of speculation that he is grooming his co-host Ryan Seacrest to take over the show, Clark continues to appear and shows a strong desire to keep doing the show as long as he can.

This New Year’s eve he will be joined again by Ryan Seacrest, but he will be adding the ever pretty Jenny McCarthy and the Black Eyed Peas singer Fergie into the mix. While Clark holds things down in the main studio and Seacrest  hangs out in Time Square, Fergie will be live in Los Angeles and McCarthy will be roving the through Time Square.

Dick Clark always has a lot of top acts on his New Year’s Eve show and this year is no different. His show will feature performances by Natasha Bedingfield, Jason Derulo, Drake, Far East Movement, Jennifer Hudson, Avril Lavigne, Mike Posner, Ne-Yo and Train. It is a great mix of established acts that will be there to either sing their new single or in Lavigne’s case remind us that she is still out there. Train had the top selling single of the year and Drake is one of the hottest rappers in the game right now so Clark has assembled a nice, varied roster for the show that should provide some good entertainment.

If there is anything that might keep you from watching it could be Dick Clark himself. Since the stroke his speech is slurred and he just doesn’t sound the same as did before. I commend him on having the courage to get on camera and do the show that he  clearly loves , but it is a little bit sad to see the ‘World’s Oldest Teenager’ suddenly look mortal. Some, like me, can find his final countdown of the night a little hard to watch. If you are among those people who would rather remember Clark as he was before the stroke, you can always turn over at the last minute to MTV and watch them drop Snooki in a big plastic ball like she is a life size Guido hamster.
