Lady Gaga Most Charitable Celebrity of 2010
Lady Gaga is the Most Charitable Celebrity of 2010 according to Do Something’s Top 20.
Do Something (dosomething.org) has released a list today of their 20 most charitable celebs of 2010 and this is just another example of Lady Gaga’s world dominance as she tops the list of most charitable. The list is actually called the top 20 Celebs Gone Good and features celebrities that donate to charity as well as doing charitable things that help improve the world.
Included in the list are Stephen Colbert for his support of veterans as well as charity that helps classrooms that are underfunded and in need; Sandra Bullock for her help with the rebuilding of New Orleans and Shakira for her help building schools around the world.
The top 10 most charitable celebrities are: Number 10 – Justin Bieber for his work raising money for children in need. Number 9 – Oprah who donated $40 million dollars this year to various charities. Number 8 – Leonardo DiCaprio for his work helping preserve endangered animals like Tigers. Number 7 – Matt Damon, who co-founded water.org which works to bring clean, safe drinking water and sanitation to developing countries. Number 6 – Nick Jonas for his work with children and childhood diabetes. Number 5 – Ellen DeGeneres for her work to help stop bullying especially among lesbian, gay and bisexual students. Number 4 – Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore who launched the DNA Foundation to combat child sex trafficking. Number 3 – Taylor Swift who donated $500,000 to the relief effort for the Nashville floods as well as donating a lot of her time for other fundraising events. Number 2 – Alicia Keys who raised more than $1.1 million dollars in 2010 to help provide AIDS treatment worldwide.
Number 1 – as I mentioned above – is Lady Gaga. She took a very public stance in working to get the Don’t Ask Don’t Tell law repealed. She has also donated a lot of her time and money in her support of same-sex marriage and the fight against AIDS/HIV worldwide. In 2010 Gaga transformed herself from being not just a huge, famous pop star, but also a voice for social change.
There you have it, Do Something’s to 20 most charitable celebs of 2010. I have a feeling we will see many of these names continuing their charity works for years to come.
