Ryan Reynolds Takes On Superhero Role As Green Lantern
Ryan Reynolds is set to take on his second superhero film with his new role as Green Lantern.
“Green Lantern” which revolves around Hal Jordan, a test pilot who is inducted into an intergalactic squad called The Green Lantern Corps.
In a recent interview with EW.com, screenwriter Greg Berlanti explained how the movie got the green light from Warner Bros. “I had to convince Warner Bros. this was the most valuable property they hadn’t tapped into. Of all the comic-book movies, there hadn’t been something with an Americana feeling on earth and an epic feeling in space.”
EW.com also got the chance to interview Ryan Reynolds on how life was around the set of “Green Lantern,” what he had to do to prepare for the role and just exactly what he thought about playing a superhero.
On the set Ryan had a bit of trouble with the flying harnesses. “The first time you do it, you’re deeply considering an adult diaper,” he told EW. He also explained the diet he had to maintain in preparation for the role of “Green Lantern.”
“You spend one day a week eating what you want and the other six days eating drywall and wood chips.” The first part of that doesn’t seem so bad but I don’t know about eating drywall and wood chips that sounds a bit rough all to look good in tights for the Green Lantern gig.
As far as playing a superhero, Reynolds is no rookie. In the blockbuster hit “X-Men Origins: Wolverine,” Reynolds took on the role of Deadpool. His performance as Deadpool was so magnificent that he was offered a Deadpool spin-off movie, which will begin shooting after “Green Lantern” is released.
“Green Lantern” which will be a hot topic at this years San Diego Comic Con is set to hit theaters June 17, 2011.
