Jillian Michaels Leaves The Biggest Loser
Jillian Michaels leaves The Biggest Loser, calls it quits once Season 11 airs.
Season 11 of The Biggest Loser kicks off on January 4th and as she has been since the start of the show, Jillian Michaels will be there to push the contestants beyond the point they ever thought they could go. But this will be her last stand on the show as she plans to leave at the end of this season.
Jillian Michaels says she is planning to pass the baton and is ready to move on. “When I look at the platform I was able to have because of the show, I wonder what else I could be doing with it or should be doing with it,” she says. She goes on to say that she wants to be a part of getting PE back in schools and she wants to be part of getting subsidies for organic farms.
It isn’t just her passion for PE and organic farming that is pulling her from the Biggest Loser. Jillian Michaels also wants to be a mom and spend more time with friends in family. The biggest loser is a seven day a week job and Michaels says at 36 she is ready for the next phase of her life.
It sounds like Jillian Michaels is burning out on The Biggest Loser and I can’t blame her, but I hope she has plenty of cash saved up. From the sound of it the things she is interested in and will be pursing will not pay nearly as well as being one of the primary players on a very successful network TV show. The television landscape is littered with people who left successful shows to pursue their own thing and never were able to recreate their success. While it sounds like what she will be doing doesn’t require her to have a hit TV show, it may also require her to give up a lot of the creature comforts and vanity that comes with a hit TV show because the fat paychecks are about to come to an end.
While Jillian Michaels has been criticized for her techniques on The Biggest Loser (some say she pushes them too hard and could get people hurt) she does get results and that is hard to argue with. She seems driven and she will have some star power in reserve for at least the next year. She could use that to help get her other projects off the ground. I just hope she has it all in perspective and fully realizes what she is walking away from. It sounds like she is tackling some potentially important things; hopefully Jillian Michaels can pull it off.
