Larry King Live Most Memorable Moments

larry king cnnLarry King will air his final Larry King Live segment tonight and here our my most memorable moments and guests.

Having a nightly show for 25 years means you talk to a lot of different people. When it comes to Larry King he often covers breaking news and current events so there are bound to be countless guests and shows he doesn’t even remember, but there are some that stand out as nearly unforgettable. Here are some of the best, strangest and most memorable moments from Larry King Live.

Few will forget his interview with Marlon Brando. Brando was famously reclusive and never gave interviews so just that the interview was taking place was a big story. At the end of the interview Brando seemed to like King. So much so that he leaned over and kissed him on the lips. Larry didn’t seem to mind too much.

When Larry King interviewed rapper Snoop Dogg he sat down with the rap star at a Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles where he taught Snoop what an Arnold Palmer drink was (for those who wonder, it is half lemonade and half ice tea).

Among Larry King’s awkward, strange interviews the one with Jerry Seinfeld stands out as one of the oddest. Early in the interview King seems a little confused and seems to think that Seinfeld’s show was canceled not that he chose to end it on top. Jerry seems to be legitimately angry. He goes off on Larry and the whole interview goes downhill quickly.

Shortly after George Harrison’s death Larry King had the two remaining Beatles, Ringo Starr and Paul McCartney on Larry King Live. After asking Paul where he was when he heard George was dead, he then turns to Ringo and refers to him as George. Paul quickly catches it and starts giving Larry crap about it.

Over the years Larry has had a bunch of different guest hosts, but none better than Jimmy Kimmel. Kimmel, dressed in King’s trademark shirt, tie and suspenders tore into Gawker.com Editor Emily Gould over the “stalker” section of the website. He ends up telling her that eventually she will be responsible for some celebs death. It is a priceless beat down.

Larry King normally keeps things cool, but when he interviewed embattled beauty queen Carrie Prejean he had trouble keeping her in her seat. Prejean, for those who don’t remember, shot to fame when during the Miss USA pageant Perez Hilton asked her about her stance on gay marriage. She was honest and said she didn’t support it. She felt marriage should be between a man and woman. She ignited a fire of controversy, was kicked out of the Miss California group then sued them. She settled with them out of court then went on Larry King. Larry asked her why she settled if she felt she still had something to prove. She wouldn’t even acknowledge that she settled much less why she chose to do so. When Larry King pressed her she told him he was bring inappropriate. She got up to leave, but couldn’t get the microphone off of her. It was classic live television. Here we had someone who desperately wanted to storm off the set, but was tied to the set and King kept asking questions while she chastised him and talked to him like he was a child.

These were just a few of my favorite moments. It has been a long, strange trip for Larry King. He has had some groundbreaking interviews and over the years he has had numerous funny, strange and odd moments. No matter the situation King has always handled himself with class and a sense of humor. It has been a good run for Larry and he will be missed.
