Glee: Gwyneth Paltrow and Five 2011 Golden Globe Nominations
Glee is unstoppable with its newest guest star Gwyneth Paltrow and five 2011 Golden Globe Nominations.
To start things off Glee, the comedy/musical show about outcasts and misfits coming together and expressing themselves musically was nominated for five Golden Globe Awards. The five 2011 Golden Globe nominations include: Jane Lynch for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role, Matthew Morrison for Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical, Chris Colfer for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role, Lea Michele for Best Performance by an Actress in a Television Series – Comedy or Musical and Best Television Series – Comedy or Musical. As the Glee cast celebrated the nominations they seemed genuinely happy for each other and were all overjoyed that the show itself was getting recognized.
As if the ratings and critical success of Glee wasn’t enough of recognition, something that always is intriguing is how various musicians react when they hear their songs done on Glee. Cee Lo Green’s song “Fuck You” was recently given the Glee treatment by none other than Oscar Winner Gwyneth Paltrow and it seems Cee Lo was flattered by them choosing his song and impressed with her version of it. All of this is even more good news for the show because it was announced that Paltrow will be returning to the show for an additional episode to reprise her role as substitute teacher Holly Holiday.
It seems like the love fest is mutual. Lea Michele said she felt that Gwyneth Paltrow really put her mark on the show by coming in and “blowing the roof off this place.” Paltrow even wrote Michele “the loveliest note” before leaving the show. Paltrow has said that her stint on Glee was “the best job ever.” She says she can’t wait for her return.
Glee is once again riding high. With huge record sales, record breaking digital download sales, great ratings, love and respect from the musicians they cover and now five 2011 Golden Globe nominations and the return of an Oscar Winner, this juggernaut can’t be stopped.
