Just Exactly Who Was Bobby Frankel? Father to Bethenny Frankel

Posted by on July 7, 2010 at 5:00 PM EST

bobby frankelBethenny Frankel has made a name for herself with the “Real Housewives of New York City” and “Bethenny Getting Married” but just exactly who was her father, Bobby Frankel?

In a recent interview with PEOPLE, Bethenny stated: “I never had a true childhood…there was a lot of destruction: alcohol abuse, eating disorders and violent fights.” Thus being said, let’s take a deeper look at just who exactly the parent she had the most issues with was, her father, Bobby Frankel.

It seems as if Bethenny Frankel is not the only family member who was famous. Her father, Bobby Frankel, was a legendary horse trainer. You usually see the word legendary when you describe a super-hero or some fictional character. Bobby Frankel was neither; he was just that damn good at training horses.

Robert “Bobby” Frankel recently passed away on November 16th, 2009 but the legacy he left behind will always be remembered. Bobby was easily the top horse trainer to ever live. You could say that after 40 years of horse training, he perfected his craft.

Bobby Frankel won almost every major race that took place in the United States, except for the Kentucky Derby. Frankel won well over $200 million from the horses that he trained, making him #2 on the all-time money earners from horse races.

Amongst his winnings and five Best Trainer awards, Bobby Frankel was also a good friend with ex-Yankee manager Joe Torre.

After this quick glimpse at Bethenny Frankels father, Bobby Frankel, I just don’t see any signs of what she told PEOPLE in the interview.

A man with a legacy like Bobby Frankel just doesn’t seem to be the type to abuse his children. You can’t have respect in this world if you treat your family like Bethenny says he did.

Whether it is a sob story for more publicity for Bethenny will forever remain a mystery as her father, Bobby Frankel, is deceased, thus unable to tell his side of the story.
