Natalie Portman’s Black Swan Huge Success
Natalie Portman’s latest movie “Black Swan” has been a huge success.
Black Swan, starring Natalie Portman, has received a record 12 nominations for the 16th Annual Critic’s Choice Movie Awards. Black Swan has nominations for such things as best actress, best supporting actress, and best director. Natalie Portman plays the role of Nina who is vying for the role of prima ballerina against a new dancer, Lily (played by Mila Kunis). The film is a psychological thriller that explores the dangers of tapping into your dark side.
Statistically, there is a high probability of winners going on to claim Oscars. Will Natalie Portman be the prima ballerina amongst her peers? If she wins best actress at Critics Choice, she definitely has a chance; at least half of the actors and actresses who have won Critics Choice awards have gone on to win the Oscar. For the past seven years, the pick for Best Actor has won the same at the Academy Awards!
So how likely is Natalie Portman to win Best Actress? She certainly faces some stiff competition; other candidates include Lisa Cholodenko (The Kids are All Right), Noomi Rapace (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo), Michelle Williams (Blue Valentine), Jennifer Lawrence (Winter Bone), and Nicole Kidman (Rabbit Hole).
The Critics Choice Awards will air on January 14th, on VH1. Make sure you tune in to see who wins what, and if your faves get the prizes they deserve!
