Justin Bieber: Barbara Walters Has The Fever!
Justin Bieber made the cut for Barbara Walters 10 Most Fascinating People of 2010.
Last night Barbara Walters aired her annual “10 Most Fascinating People” special. This year it was a two hour affair. The first hour was devoted entirely to Oprah who talked about her plans after she ends her show in a few months. The most interesting thing was that Oprah finally commented on the constant rumors that she and Gayle King are lesbians. For the record, Oprah says, she is not a lesbian. No let’s get on with Walters and her [Justin] Bieber fever.
The second hour featured the top 10 most fascinating people (From Betty White to Justin Bieber). I’ll run through them in order:
#10 – Betty White: She basically covered how now at 88 years old Betty White is hotter than ever. She is a bigger star than she has ever been and is very much in demand. She also seems to be one of those people everyone loves. She seems like a nice person who really is having fun with the moment.
#9 – Mark Zuckerberg: For those who don’t know he is the creator of Facebook. He made a lot of news this year with the movie “The Social Network” hitting theaters and doing very well. She didn’t interview him though, she just included clips of other interviews he has done and talked about him.
#8 – Justin Beiber: She talked about what his life is like and how he got to where he is. He says he may cut his trademark hair and that his life is crazy, but his family tries to keep it somewhat normal.
#7 – The cast of “Jersey Shore” – Walters brought the sarcasm when she said at the end of the interview that meeting them makes up for her never getting to meet Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. The cast seemed to play things off like they are in on the joke, but they seem like a group who is very much in love with and satisfied with themselves. How the hell they rank higher than Zuckerberg is anyone’s guess.
#6 – Sandra Bullock: Again, no interview, but a lot of clips about her life over the last year from winning an Oscar to having her husband cheat on her to adopting a baby. It makes you like her that much more.
#5 – Jennifer Lopez: She just became a judge on American Idol. The best part is how she thinks that she can be a judge on American Idol and still have a normal life. Nothing about her is normal and she comes off as pretty affected.
#4 – Lebron James: This one makes sense because for a few months all any sports person talked about was “where will Lebron sign?” He had his ego trip moment where he held his special and announced that he was taking his talents to south beach and overnight went from being one of the most liked players in the NBA to being one of the biggest villains in the league.
#3 – Kate Middelton: She is the girl who is marrying Prince William. I always thought you had to accomplish something to get on this list. She just agreed to date a guy and liked him.
#2 – Sarah Palin: This one is a no-brainer. She has been everywhere this last year. She endorsed candidates during the election, spouted off on her Facebook and Twitter, got a job at Fox News, has a reality show, had a daughter on Dancing with the Stars and is thinking about running for president. Of that she told Walters she would only run if she thinks she could win. She also said she feels she could beat Obama. I guess that means she is going to run.
#1 – General David Petraeus: This one makes a lot of sense. He was the guy who got things turned around and under control in Iraq. Then after General McChrystal gave his crazy interview with Rolling Stone and was removed from command, Petraeus was put in command of the war in Afghanistan. She didn’t interview him, but did hit on the fact that he is one of the few people most Americans trust and who is liked, trusted and admired by democrats and republicans alike in Washington. There are rumors he might someday make a run for president as well.
So there you have it, the top 10 most fascinating people of the years according to Barbara Walters. Like any year there are some controversies. Some I agree with and some I don’t (Justin Bieber and Jersey Shore) but it is still a pretty good list. On question: If Oprah is worthy a full hour at the beginning of this show, how does she not make the list?
