Nicole Kidman Falls Into Deep Dark “Rabbit Hole” Role
Nicole Kidman co-stars with Aaron Eckhart in the new film “Rabbit Hole.”
There were no limits in place between Nicole Kidman and co-star Aaron Eckhart when they teamed up to film their new movie “Rabbit Hole.” They knew reading the script that they would have to go to some dark places and have a very powerful and intimate relationship in the movie if they were going to pull it off.
Aaron Eckhart took the lead on that front. He says, “The first time I met Nicole I went up to her and I said, ‘I can do anything to you. I can touch you, I can talk to you, I can be rude to you, I can want to have sex with you.’ Because that’s our relationship and I give myself permission to do that I give you permission to do that with me.” Nicole Kidman welcomed her co-stars intensity and knew it was needed.
“Rabbit Hole” tells the story of a couple whose life is erupts in chaos and grief after the death of their son. Nicole Kidman, who was a producer on this movie, said that Aaron Eckhart was her first choice as a co-star and that she felt lucky to get him because often you don’t get your first choice. She goes on to say that she handled the dark theme of the movie fine. For her it was just another day at the office. “As actors that is what we do. Sometimes we get things that are comedies and sometimes we get dramas and we tell all different stories, that’s our job.” She said at the premier.
Nicole Kidman is no stranger to dark movies or movies that push the boundaries. Rumors of real sex taking place on camera in her movie “Eyes Wide Shut;” a scene where she gets into a tube nude with a young boy and has a very intimate scene with him in “Birth;” a teacher who uses sex to seduce her students and convince them to kill for her in “To Die For;” and plenty of nudity and sex with a much older Anthony Hopkins in “The Human Stain” are just a few of the controversial roles she has tacked over her career.
“Rabbit Hole” has been playing the festival circuit and the buzz is that both Nicole Kidman and Aaron Eckhart could be favorites when it comes to awards season. The movie opens nationwide on December 12th.
