DWTS Winner Jennifer Grey Goes Under the Knife!
Dancing With The Stars winner Jennifer Grey is going in for surgery on her back.
Jennifer Grey will be celebrating her victory on Dancing With the Stars with back surgery. For Jennifer, the entire season of DWTS was one big battle with her body to stay healthy. For those that didn’t know she had neck surgery to fix her deteriorating spine just before coming on the show. During that procedure they saw a spot on her thyroid gland so she saw a specialist who found out it was cancer. She had it treated and caught it before it spread.
As Jennifer Grey came into Dancing With the Stars she had a clean bill of health, but knew she would need to take it easy on her neck. As the weeks progressed she had back trouble, some neck issues, a knee problem, an ankle sprain and a foot problem. Add in that at 50-years-old Grey was running a little low on energy and it was a real gut check.
The last week of the competition as Jennifer Grey prepared for the finale she ruptured a disc in her back. While it hurt, she didn’t want to drop out of the competition in the last week so she sucked it up, dealt with the pain and kept at it. It all paid off as, ruptured disc and all, she got perfect scores on her final dances and took home the mirror ball trophy. Now she has to deal with the issue. She says that the pain is a little more than just discomfort, but that the surgery is not that invasive. They will go in and remove the ruptured part of the disc then repair the area around it. Jennifer Grey says that compared to her neck surgery this one is not a big deal and that she will be home the same night they do the surgery.
We wish Jennifer Grey the best of luck with her back surgery and hope she has a speedy recovery.
