It has been confirmed that James Franco and Anne Hathaway will be hosting the 83rd Academy Awards on February 27, 2011.

The press released the statement below which discusses James Franco and Anne Hathaway hosting the 2011 Oscars:

Oscar telecast producers Bruce Cohen and Don Mischer announced just now “James Franco and Anne Hathaway personify the next generation of Hollywood icons— fresh, exciting and multi-talented. We hope to create an Oscar broadcast that will both showcase their incredible talents and entertain the world on February 27. We are completely thrilled that James and Anne will be joining forces with our brilliant creative team to do just that.”

When we think of Oscars, we tend to think old and boring. By having two young, popular actors teaming up to host, this should liven up the awards show and hopefully bring in a younger crowd of viewers.

Just recently Anne Hathaway hosted Saturday Night Live giving an amusing performance when she impersonated Katie Holmes. She showed great enthusiasm for hosting and is sure to do great at the Oscars. James Franco also hosted Saturday Night Live last year; he too did a great job impersonating his past character on General Hospital.

Anne Hathaway, 28, is currently promoting her latest flick “Love and Other Drugs” and James Franco, 32, stars in the recently released “127 Hours” and the upcoming “Your Highness” which stars Natalie Portman.
