Willie Nelson Arrested: Legalize Weed In Texas!
American singing country legend Willie Nelson was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana.
77-year-old Willie Nelson admitted to owning the 6 ounces of marijuana that was discovered on his tour bus during a routine checkpoint in Sierra Blanca, Texas Friday morning. He was arrested and charged with possession after police patrolman Bill Brooks; a sheriff from Hudspeth County was contacted.
Hudspeth County Sheriff Arvin West told the El Paso Times, “It’s kind of surprising, but I mean we treat him like anybody else. He could get 180 days in county jail, which if he does, I’m going to make him cook and clean. He can wear the stripy uniforms just like the other ones do.”
Willie Nelson a long-time activist for the legalization of marijuana was held briefly and paid a $2,500 bond before being released at yesterday 1:30 pm. Mickey Raphael, Nelson’s longtime harmonica player, tells Rolling Stone that the singer said, “He feels great — he lost six ounces.”
In 2008, Willie Nelson once stated, “It’s a matter of time, a matter of education, a matter of people finding out what cannabis, marijuana is for, why it grows out of the ground and why it’s prescribed as one of the greatest stress medicines on the planet.”
Someone should really tell Willie that Prop 19 was just for California and that it failed to pass. I guess he could always claim his marijuana was for medical issues.
