Deadliest Catch Recap Captain Phil Harris Suffers Stroke
Captain Phil Harris had a stroke which was aired at the end of last night’s episode of ‘Deadliest Catch’.
Last night began a series of episodes to pay tribute to ‘Deadliest Catch’ star, Captain Phil Harris.
The episode starts off with a look back at last week when Captain Phil Harris caught his son, Jake Harris, stealing his prescription medicine on-board the vessel the Cornelia Marie. In a heated argument Captain Phil Harris tell his youngest son: “I want you out of my life, when we get back home, you are going your way and I am going mine.” Next was a shocker to myself and I am sure to the rest of the ‘Deadliest Catch’ fans out there. Jake Harris admits to his father that he is an “addict.”
Suddenly, the atmosphere in the engine room turns from disgust to support. Captain Phil Harris and his son Jake Harris agree that it is best for the addicted captain’s son to go to rehab. Phil then goes on camera to explain how it was not easy for his kids growing up. Partially his fault for not being around and spending fatherly time with his two boys.
The episode goes on and we don’t see much of Captain Phil Harris and the Cornelia Maria. At this point my gut is turning from the suspense of what I know is bound to happen. Captain Phil Harris docks the Cornelia Marie to offload their catch of crab.
In a scene in which Captain Phil Harris and his two boys Jake and Josh Harris are in the wheelhouse, they reminisce with old photos at a younger time in their lives. It is at this time that things turn for the worse for the captain.
The Cornelia Marie had finished offloading all of it’s crab and the final thing needed was a signature from Captain Phil Harris. When deckhand Steve goes up to the wheelhouse, the skipper is no where to be found. Steve then calls his room and to his surprise, the captain does not answer. The veteran deckhand immediately knows something is wrong and rushes to the captain’s room.
Captain Phil Harris was found face-down in his room and Steve rushed to get Josh Harris, who called 911. The crew of the Cornelia Marie frantically raced down to Captain Phil Harris once they heard the news. As the ambulance arrived, we become aware that Captain Phil Harris just had a stroke.
The episode ends with a grief-stricken crew all assisting in getting Captain Phil Harris off the ship and into the ambulance.
Stay tuned next week to ‘Deadliest Catch’ on the Discovery Channel when the tribute to Captain Phil Harris continues at 8/9 ET.
