Honoring Hollywood Dads on Father’s Day
Being a father and a star can be hectic at times, with the constant travel to film and promote a movie. This tough lifestyle doesn’t stop stars such as Tom Cruise, Ryan Phillippe, Brad Pitt, and Johnny Depp from playing an active part in their children’s lives.
Tom Cruise knew he always wanted children, he told ESQUIRE: “I always loved kids, but it was more than that, it was this thought: What would it be like, being a father? Being the kind of guy who takes care of things?”
Cruise is father to his adopted children with ex-Nicole Kidman, now 15-year-old Connor and 17-year-old Isabella Jane. He is also father to 4-year-old Suri, with current wife Katie Holmes. This father of three would drop everything to be there for his children, no matter if he was on set filming a movie, his children always come first.
Ryan Phillippe works hard at being a good father to his two children, 12-year-old Ava Elizabeth and 6-year-old Deacon Reese with ex wife Reese Witherspoon. The two have joint custody of the children and have remained friends. Ryan stated if he has to be away from his children to film a movie, he rather the film is a serious role so his kids could be proud of it.
Brad Pitt, father of three adopted children, Maddox, Pax, and Zahara, as well as three biological children, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne with Angelina Jolie. On NBC’s TODAY show, Brad has stated: “Fatherhood is the best thing I ever did. It completely changes your perspective, and it certainly takes the focus off yourself. You know, you can write a book, you can make a movie, you can draw, paint a painting, but having kids is really the most extraordinary thing I have ever taken on.”
Johnny Depp has two children with Vanessa Paradis, Lily-Rose Melody, 11, and John “Jack” Christopher Depp III, 8. Depp has stated: “fatherhood has helped him grow as an actor and person.” Being a parent, he says: “has given me real foundation, a real strong place to stand in life, in work, in everything.”
We wish these fathers, as well as all fathers, a Happy Father’s Day.
