modern family flash mobModern Family Season 2 returned last night and here is a quick recap of the “Flash, Dash, Crash” episode.

The hit TV show Modern Family returned last night after a week off due to the CMA Awards 2010. Season 2 came back in full force last night with a brand new episode entitled “Flash, Dash, Crash” in which we celebrate Manny’s (Rico Rodriguez II) birthday.

Right off the bat last night we join the entire cast of Modern Family Season 2 at a birthday dinner for Manny. Of course, everyone looks angry and upset, so we rewind to the beginning of the day and follow the events that lead up to the dinner.

Cam (Eric Stonestreet) and Mitch (Jesse Tyler Ferguson) are out spending the day shopping, and Mitch is in a rush for the entire night. He keeps telling Cam that they are going to be late for Manny’s birthday. After helping a couple of adulterating old people, they witness what looks to be a flash mob. Mitch, who has kept his involvement a secret, joins the mob as they dance to En Vogue. Cam is royally pissed and says that Mitch cheated on him with dancing. Watching Cam try and dance along with the flash mob was hilarious, the poor guy had no clue what the moves were.

Back at Jay’s (Ed O’Neill) house, Gloria (Sofia Vergara) is searching for the keys to the car. Manny realizes that he has missed his childhood and is trying to catch up. From mixing soda together to lounging in the pool, Manny is eager to recover his lost childhood. When Jay realizes that he is the one who lost his keys, he quickly tries to hide them in Gloria’s purse. Of course, Gloria realizes what Jay has done and now she is pissed off.

On with the last Modern Family, the Dunphy’s! For the Dunphy clan, it is a race to the restaurant as Phil (Ty Burrell) challenges Claire (Julie Bowen) to see who can get there the fastest. The two girls Haley (Sarah Hyland) and Alex (Ariel Winter) go with Phil while Luke (Nolan Gould) accompanies his mother. On the way to the restaurant, Claire realizes that Phil is the “fun” parent and has a breakdown. Phil and the girls have a touching moment and start crying when “family camp” is brought up.

Now that why everyone is pissed off at dinner is out of the way, let’s get to how the episode ends. Manny gives his own birthday speech and it is quite funny. He says that after watching everyone else act childish, he has plenty of time to catch up on his lost childhood. All of the families of Modern Family Season 2 then realize how stupid they have been acting and we end the episode with a “Happy Birthday Manny!”

Modern Family will return next Wednesday night at 9|8c on ABC.
