Trace Adkins Outraged Over BP Gulf Oil Spill Solution

Posted by on June 18, 2010 at 2:32 PM EST

trace adkinsCountry star Trace Adkins recently had a chance to speak his mind about his outrage over the government’s plans for the BP Gulf Oil Spill solution.

The U.S. government recently announced that in effort to control the BP Gulf Oil Spill they would cease all offshore drilling in the Gulf of Mexico for at least 6 months.

For country star Trace Adkins, the BP Oil spill has hit relatively close to home. Before Trace was a country mega-star, he made his living in the oil industry. Working in the oil fields and knowing the life-style, Trace think that the governments decision is completely wrong.

In an interview with CNN’s Anderson Cooper, Trace Adkins states:

“I think it’s a terrible idea. That’s like kicking a man while he’s down. That is the most idiotic, juvenile overreaction. It’s an uninformed decision, is what it is. It’s just ridiculous. Don’t get me started on that. I don’t know how many tens of thousands of wells have been drilled in the Gulf of Mexico since since we’ve been doing it. But how many times have you heard about this happening? I think that’s a pretty good track record. And to punish an American company for something that a British company did … This moratorium is not going to stop anybody else. It’s not going to stop British companies. It’s not going to stop anybody else. It’s going to hurt American companies. Those are the ones that are going to be forced to stop working. And when you just stack drilling rigs, it’s not just those men that work on those rigs. You’re talking about supply companies, service companies, catering companies. All those people that depend on those drilling rigs working in the Gulf of Mexico….The moratorium on the drilling, that’s ridiculous.”

I have to agree with Trace on his views of the ongoing tragedy in the Gulf. Ceasing all drilling will not only leave the fisherman out of jobs but will also leave all of those people who work on the oil rigs out of jobs. Doing so, will just hurt the American economy. It’s sad that a British company is behind the BP Oil Spill disaster and right now, America is the only one suffering from it.

Ceasing all drilling in the Gulf of Mexico is not going to stop the oil from gushing out of the BP pipe that is ravaging the Gulf. The main thing we need to focus on right now is plugging that oil well up so we can begin to fix what BP has destroyed.
