Bret Michaels Has Warning Stroke: Still Scheduled for Celebrity Apprentice
Bret Michaels has warning stroke but still scheduled for celebrity apprentice. Poison, Rock of Love star and Celebrity Apprentice finale contestant Bret Michaels has suffered another setback on the road to recovery. The 47 year old Michaels was rushed to back to the hospital after complaining of left sided weakness mostly to his face and hands. After a battery of tests doctors came to the conclusion that Michaels had suffered a Transient Ischemic Attack or TIA also known as a “Warning Stroke.” During testing doctors found Michaels had a hole in his heart known as a Patent Forum Ovale. Doctors are confident Bret’s condition is both “operable and treatable” through outpatient care consisting of daily blood thinners.
It has been a rough 2010 for Bret to date, the singer has suffered through intense stomach pains leading to an emergency appendectomy, then on April 22 Michaels was rushed to the hospital yet again this time with an “excruciating headache.” Bret spent several days in the Intensive Care Unit after doctors discovered Michaels suffered a massive subarachnoid hemorrhage caused by a rupture of the cerebral aneurysm. Doctors do not believe the TIA to be related SAH.
Michaels knows how lucky he is to be alive due to the fact 10 to 15% of all SAH patients die before reaching the hospital and up to half of the cases are fatal. Although conflicting reports on how severe the damage actually was, Bret is progressing and sick and tired of being in the hospital (no pun intended). According to Bret’s reps he is walking and talking and continuing his daily rehab but made this bold statement; “I’m really happy to be alive but I’m ready to get out of the hospital and rock!”
The Celebrity Apprentice Live Finale is set to broadcast this Sunday. Brett is said to still be appearing despite his recent medical crisis. You can catch the show the two hour finale on May 23rd at 9pm on NBC.
