Michelle Nicastro: Dead at Age 50
Michelle Nicastro Loses Cancer Battle
November 4th 2010, after being diagnosed with breast cancer 10 years ago, actress and singer Michelle Nicastro, had succumbed to her illness at the age of 50.
Michelle Nicastro was mostly known for her brief role in the 1989 romantic comedy of When Harry Met Sally as Billy Crystal’s college sweetheart, yet was also an avid singer with credits to four solo albums containing show tunes and musicals. Her television career consisted a one-off appearance on Coach and a short stint on Full House. She also played supporting roles in two of my personal favorites, Airwolf and David Hasselhoff’s gem, Knight Rider. Those pants were awesome.
Getting back on topic though, Michelle Nicastro also performed voiceovers for the Princess Odette in the animated movies: The Swan Princess and its sequels, The Swan Princess II: Escape from Castle Mountain and The Swan Princess: The Mystery of the Enchanted Kingdom, as well as the singing voice of Callisto from the surprisingly successful television series, Xena: Warrior Princess. She was more renowned for her singing talents on Broadway though, with a role in Merlin, and more importantly a tour as the original Eponine with the Los Angeles production of Les Misérables.
Along with two friends and her sister, Nicastro also started a line of parenting products and stationery sold on the company’s namesake, TrulyMom.com
Michelle Nicastro is survived by a husband and two children.
