David Cassidy Arrested: Actor Charged With DUI
Actor David Cassidy was arrested and charged with a DUI on Wednesday.
Actor and former “Partridge Family” star David Cassidy was arrested in Florida for driving under the influence (DUI). Cassidy was stopped by a Florida Highway Patrol officer early Wednesday afternoon after he was seen allegedly weaving in and out of traffic and nearly causing an accident.
When asked, David Cassidy told the officer that he had drank one glass of wine during lunch and that he took a hydrocodone pill about three hours earlier. The officer administered a field sobriety test as well as two breath tests and Cassidy failed them all. It has been reported that the officer found a half-empty bottle of bourbon in the back seat of the car. Reports say that his Breathalyzer results came back as 0.139 and 0.141, both well over the legal limit.
Cassidy was arrested and then after processing posted the $350 bail and left jail early Thursday morning.
There is no word as to why David Cassidy was taking hyrdocodone, but that is a well known, heavy duty pain killer. When mixed with alcohol it can be toxic. One of the main drugs in hydrocodone is called APAP (aka acetaminophen). APAP is processed solely by the liver. When mixed with booze it can cause liver and kidney damage as well as coma and other problems.
But enough with the pharmacy lesson. Cassidy’s spokeswoman said he admits taking the pain pill and was tired from attending a funeral, but that he was not drunk. David Cassidy lives in Fort Lauderdale, Florida roughly 100 miles from where the stop occurred. There is no report as to whether or not Cassidy intended to drive all the way home in his condition or not.
