jennifer grey dwtsDWTS aired its 200th episode last night and Jennifer Grey shined on the dance floor.

This week Dancing With The Stars is celebrating its 200th episode and they are doing it in style over both nights that the show airs.

The audience was filled with past contestants as we saw things get kicked off with a bang. As the show started past DWTS champions Kristi Yamaguchi and Apolo Anton Ohno returned to captain a team dance competition. They took turns picking from the remaining dancers left on the show then those teams competed in a cha cha dance-off that was scored by the judges. The group scores would later be added to the dancer’s individual scores for the week.

Kristi picked Kyle Massey, Rick Fox and Bristol Palin while Apolo chose Jennifer Grey, Brandy and Kurt Warner. Kristi’s team was first to go and we saw them struggle a little bit during rehearsals. Rick was worried that height was going to cause problems and Bristol seemed worried that she would be able to pick it up, but she was having fun finally getting to dance with other girls. When the team hit the floor they put on high energy show that was fun, and actually in step and on time. Bristol even smiled during the dance and seemed to be enjoying herself. The judges liked them and said that while they might be the underdogs in this group competition they pulled it off. They got a score of 24.

Apolo’s crew was working hard in their rehearsals, but where also having some issues pulling it together. Jennifer was worn out and said her doctor told her she has to take a break every two hours. As they worked Apolo showed up and gave them a pep talk. He told them how week 4 was his hardest and he was beaten and battered and didn’t know if he could go on, but he pushed through it and found a new energy. His talk seemed to help them pull it together and energize them. Kurt seemed especially enthusiastic to be working on a team event again. Their dance was very well done. They hit all the steps and seemed to stay perfectly in synch with each other. The crowd went wild and the DWTS judges really liked them. They got a score of 27.

As the night went on we learned that there have been 121 different stars on the show and over 1,000 dances danced. They brought back some of the more memorable dancers who talked about what they felt was their best dance from their time on the show and then they sat in and judged the current contestant who would be recreating the dance. It was interesting to see some of these past dancers critique current contestants and give them some advice.

There were no performances of the night that really fell apart and Brandy and Jennifer Grey both really shined. Last night announced that Jennifer Grey was back and was still a major factor in this competition even after a couple of rough weeks. If her body can hold up she should be there right to the end and I won’t be shocked to see her and Brandy as the last two dancers standing.

The 200the episode celebration continues with the live DWTS results show tonight at 8|7c on ABC.
