Sarah Jessica Parker’s ‘Work of Art’ Debuts Tonight
Producer Sarah Jessica Parker and host China Chow are confident ‘Work of Art’ will be a huge success. Both claim they will be satisfied if just one viewer simply becomes inspired to be creative by watching the show. Fourteen different artists of all ages will compete for $100,000 and a chance to show their work at the Brooklyn Museum. In tonight’s premiere episode, the artists are challenged to paint a portrait of a fellow contestant using any technique they wish. Each artist is so diverse, tension and drama fills the studio within a matter of minutes.
The judging panel consists of Jerry Saltz, a New York Magazine Art critic, and Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn and Bill Powers, who both are gallery owners. They will critic each artist’s work and send someone home each episode throughout the first season of ‘Work of Art’.
Host of ‘Work of Art’ China Chow reported, “They’ll surprise you. There are some contestants you think, ‘This one’s gonna win the whole thing.’ I saw audition tapes … them talking about their previous work and all that kind of stuff, and based on that, I thought I had it all figured out. Boy, was I wrong.”
