Lee DeWyze American Idol Top 3The night started off with songs picked by the top three contestants. America’s Next Top Model, I mean Idol contestant Casey James kicked the show off. This kid needs to just give up and America needs to stop voting for Casey because he is terrible. My prediction is that this week Kara DioGuardi’s season long crush will be axed. Moving on to my oh-so favorite contestant, the tree-hugging hippie herself, Crystal Bowersox. While I will agree she is a talented young woman, I really feel like she belongs in a Subway, guitar case open, playing songs for tips. On comes Lee DeWyze, my pick to win the whole thing. With the classic “Simple Man” by Lynyrd Skynyrd, Lee related to the song and delivered another great performance.

The second part of the night consisted of a song choice that was picked out by the judges. Casey James had to sing “Daughters” by John Mayer and while it was better than his first performance, he just does not have what it takes to win. Crystal was up next and Ellen picked “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney. Ellen’s reasoning behind the song choice was for Crystal to showcase her range and artistic abilities beyond the guitar strings. I feel that this performance was one of Crystals best to this date and will be enough to land her a spot in the finale. Last but not least was the man of the night, Lee DeWyze. Simon Cowell picked “Hallelujah” by Leonard Cohen, a song in which we have heard many different renditions of. In a performance that reminded me why I watch this show, Lee DeWyze took an already great song, put his twist on it and made it amazing. The night ending performance by Lee DeWyze will surely secure him a spot in the finale and might have just scored him the votes to win it all. Great job Lee, show that hippie Crystal who wants it more!
