‘South Park’: Muff Cabbage, Jersey Shore and Real Housewives Recap
What do Muff Cabbage, Jersey Shore cast, and Real Housewives of New Jersey have in common? They just had a South Park episode dedicated to them last night and it was awesome. Here’s our recap.
The Jersey Shore crew was “featured” in last night’s South Park episode, aptly named “It’s a Jersey Thing.” And can we first just say – it’s fricken HIL-A-R-I-OUS – go watch it. The show depicted animated versions of characters resembling the Jersey Shore cast and other notable New Jersey residents, The Real Housewives of New Jersey. Not to mention we have learned a new term, muff cabbage.
South Park paints their new neighbors as Americans poised to take over the town of South Park, CO and other regions of the United States. The plot thickens as South Park solicits help from none other than Al Qaeda to combat the Jersey Shore/Real Housewives infiltration.
Amid the hilarity of the Jersey Shore episode, the kids of South Park discover the term “muff cabbage.” (Muff cabbage has subsequently shown up in Google trends, Twitter, and Facebook all morning. And if you’re wondering what exactly muff cabbage might be, well, you’ll just have to use your imagination. Or Google it. Same difference.)
As the episode progresses, Kyle soon learns he is in fact part “Jersey,” and fights to suppress his inner Jersey-ness. But perhaps the most memorable scene in the Jersey Shore animated spoof includes a cellulite-ridden, disproportionately drawn, uber-tanned creature that eats pickles from a jar and drinks Pina Coladas, slurring inarticulate phrases like “Snooki want smoosh-shoosh.” The character is referred to as a proper noun when one of the kids exclaims, “It’s a Snooki! It’s very famous,” before the Vogon-ish creature is punched in the face after trying to rape Cartman.
In true Jersey Shore fashion, at least part of the crew embraced the satirical depiction of New Jersey antics. After South Park’s Wednesday night airing, Jersey Shore cast member Nicole Polizzi a.k.a. Snooki tweeted her approval of the episode on Twitter, looking at the bright side of their infamy:
“snooki want smoosh smoosh. im going to have nightmares tonight lmao! we’ve officially made it. goodnite my bitches. <3”
