George Michael Released From Jail
Pop singer George Michael was released from jail this morning and says he is a new man who will changes his ways.
George Micheal has spent the last four weeks in prison serving time for his most recent conviction stemming from an incident where he crashed his Range Rover into a business while high on pot. This was just the most recent brush with the law in what seems like a nearly endless streak of problems.
Michael’s trouble with the law really got started in 1998 when he was arrested in Beverly Hills for making lewd advances towards an undercover police officer in a public restroom. He brushed it off and even made fun of himself as he recreated the scene in his video for the song “Outside.” He has admitted to having a drug problem that led this his being banned from driving for two years and given 100 hours of community service in 2007 when he pleaded guilty to driving under the influence. In 2008 he was arrested for possession of drugs and promised his fans that he would “sort himself out.” There was also another incident involving a police officer and a bathroom. . . what can he say, George likes it a guy in uniform and a little dirty bathroom action.
This most recent incident saw Michael get sentenced to eight weeks in federal prison while also receiving a fine of around $2,100. He will also not be allowed to drive for five years. He served only half of his eight week sentence so he will remain under close supervision for the next four weeks.
George said that prison allowed him to realize that he has to come out of this on his own and start over again. He says he was treated kindly and fairly in prison by both the staff and his fellow inmates.
George Michael has sold over 100 million records world wide and has said that he does have plans to return to recording once he has put these troubles behind him.
