Emma Stone Joins Cast Of Spider-Man Reboot
Emma Stone joins the cast of the new Sony Pictures Spider-Man reboot.
Spider-Man officially has a new muse and it is Emma Stone. Sony Pictures made the official announcement today to correct some rumors. It had long been rumored that Emma Stone would play Mary Jane in the new re-boot of Spider man to be directed by Marc Webb and staring Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. Sony corrected the rumors saying that Emma would in fact be playing Gwen Stacy a fellow science student who becomes Peter Parker’s other love interest.
This casting most likely means that Stone will have to drop out of the Jonah Hill written re-boot of 21 Jumpstreet. Jumpstreet was initially thought to be a guy-guy buddy movie, but it was rumored to be going through rewrites to add Emma Stone into the mix. With Spider-Man now on her calendar those Jumpstreet rewrites will most likely have involve another actress unless they want to push the shoot date back so that Stone can do both Jumpstreet and Spider-Man.
Emma Stone’s career has been red hot since her role in Superbad. She has been in hits like Zombieland and The House Bunny. IMDB lists that she has at least seven movies that are in various stages of production right now. Her current movie Easy A is getting great reviews and doing well at the box office. If Easy A goes on to be a hit her career will only get hotter since she will be one of the few young Hollywood stars who can carry a movie that is not a franchise to box office success. She is currently scheduled to host Saturday Night Live on October 23rd.
Be sure to keep an eye out for Emma Stone in the new Spider-Man. An official release date has yet to be announced.
