the situation dwtsHow do you think Mike Sorrentino a.k.a. The Situation will do on Dancing With The Stars week 3 tonight?

Mike Sorrentino a.k.a. The Situation has been walking on a high wire for the first two weeks of Dancing With the Stars.  While all of the other contestants had three weeks to rehearse for the premier show, The Situation was wrapping up filming on Jersey Shore so he only had one week. He tried his hardest, but didn’t do very well, receiving a 15 and a load of constructive criticism from the DWTS judges. Week 2 of Dancing With The Stars Season 11 saw Mike Sorrentino improve. He wasn’t great, but seemed a little better than he was before. The judges noted the improvement, but told him he still has a way to go if he wants to compete. For his efforts in week 2 he got an 18.

During the judging portion of week 2 The Situation said that the 2010 DWTS was harder than he thought it would be and that he really was dedicated and really wanted to nail one of these dances. I actually believed him. I think he came into the show cocky and felt like it would be easy. He quickly found out otherwise and I think he is still scrambling to catch up with many of the other cast members. To me it seems like Mike Sorrentino‘s main problem is that he has trouble relaxing. I think he wants to do well so badly that he is aggressive in trying for it and with dancing you have to funnel that aggression into smiles and grace. It isn’t easy.

If The Situation can relax and just have fun with it I think he will eventually do well on a dance, but I have a feeling his time is running out unless he takes a major step forward. There are clearly two levels of dancers this year on Dancing With the Stars and he is obviously, as of now, in the lower level. He might have the potential to move up, but it is going to be very hard for him to catch up and hang with the big guns (Jennifer Grey) at the top of the food chain. I think Mike Sorrentino will stick around at least one more week, but then if he doesn’t take a huge step forward he’ll be in grave danger of going back to the Jersey Shore.
