Caitlyn Jenner: New reality show no ratings smash
Caitlyn Jenner may have drawn in approaching three million viewers (2.7m to be precise) for this weekend’s premiere of her new reality show, but it’s a huge dip from the 17m who saw her ‘come out’ as a transgender female in a TV interview with Diane Sawyer back in April.
The program, I Am Cait, aired Sunday on E! , and charted how Caitlyn, formerly Bruce, was transitioning to a new life as a female and spokesperson for the transgender community. It also had comments and reactions from family members including those in the Kardashian Klan.
However, it was no smash hit on the ratings front, with three times as many viewers preferring to tune in to ABC to watch Celebrity Family Feud.
It was also a fall from the nearly eight million who saw the ESPY awards around two weeks ago, at which the 65-year-old former Olympic athlete received the Arthur Ashe courage award.
The stepmom of Kim Kardashian has 2.7m Twitter followers and prompted one of the best-selling issues of Vanity Fairs of recent years with her interview in the magazine, but this has yet, it seems, to translate into ratings success for her own reality show.
Did you watch I Am Cait? What did you think?
