Caitlyn Jenner: “Kids still call me Dad”
Former Olympic champion Bruce Jenner made her debut as a woman on Vanity Fair’s front cover this week. But despite the official transition, it seems the kids still call her Dad – at her request (at least for now) because she wanted to make things easier for them.
The photoshoot for the magazine followed the announcement earlier this year in a Diane Sawyer interview.
A source has told reporters: “While she still prefers not to be called Bruce, it’s fine for the moment for the kids to address her as Dad. Caitlyn spoke to each one of them individually and told them to take their time getting used to it. No-one expects this transition to take place overnight.”
In all there are 10 children, and all of them will be with Caitlyn when she makes her red carpet debut at the prestigious ESPY Awards in less than six weeks’ time on July 15.
Jenner will be there to receive the Arthur Ashe Courage Award, given each year to those whose contributions “transcend sports”.
The award is being made for Jenner’s bravery in coming out as a transgender woman this spring.
Daughters Kendall and Kylie, whose mom is Kris Jenner, will be there, alongside stepchildren Kim, Khloe, Kourtney and Rob Kardashian. Also supporting them will be Jenner’s children from her first marriage,Brody, Brandon, Burt and Casey.
That’s one large Klan! And what do you make of Caitlyn’s very public transition to being female?
