Kelly Clarkson Talks – about Being branded ‘Overweight’!
We love the way this lady always aims to Breakaway into the positive …
Kelly Clarkson, who is mentoring the current batch of American Idol hopefuls, having won the first season herself, says she is fed up of people “obsessing” about her weight. Madam, we salute you!
The 32-year-old spoke out during a recent ep of The Ellen De Generes Show, and of the criticism, said: “People think this topic is new. Like, welcome to the past 13 years! I was the biggest girl on Idol.”
The singer and her husband Brandon Blackstock announced the arrival of their baby girl River Rose in June last year. But the star has been slated for her post-baby bod in the months since.
In fact, Fox News Sunday host Chris Wallace was forced to apologize just this weekend after saying “She could stay off the deep dish pizza for a while” on the Mike Gallagher Radio Show after Gallagher himself sneered: “Kelly Clarkson? Holy cow did she blow up!”
Yet it seems Clarkson doesn’t take any of it to heart – she just feels bad for the fans who have to hear it.
“I’ll meet a fan who says ‘Wow, if you’re considered big, I must be so fat”’, Clarkson, who hasn’t so far responded to Wallace’s apology, told Ellen.
“But you are who you are. I yo-yo. Sometimes I’m fitter, other times I just want more wine!”
Truly, a girl after our own heart.
