More American Idol eliminations in Motown Week!
This week on American Idol, 12 girls became eight during a string of female Motown performances.
In the ladies’ night held Thursday, Tyanna Jones gave a fun and flawless (not to mention energetic) rendition of Rocking Robin for her shot at stardom. It left the judging panel with just one question – what can’t this girl sing? Of course she went through!
Also raising the bar was Loren Lott, with Michael Jackosn’s I Want To Be Where You Are. Again, the performance was fun and energetic, and raised the bar of what we can expect from this show. So we’ll be seeing her next time as well.
Maddie Walker, while seeming nervous, gave maybe not her best performance when she sang I’ll Be There. It was OK enough to see her through, though.
Joey Cook gave us Shop Around, Sarina-Joi Crowe sang her heart out with You’ve Really Got A Hold On Me, sounding like an angel and securing her place in the top eight. Some thought Adanna Duru’s tone was a little off as she performed Lionel Ritchie’s Hello, while Jax gave her own take on Ain’t No Mountain High Enough. And while J-Lo was unsure whether the song worked, the audience lapped it up. And we’ll be seeing more of Adanna, too.
Last slot of the ladies’ Motown Week eight was awarded to Alexis Gomez, with I Can’t Help Myself, and a performance described by one reality TV website as “horrible, out of key, and the judges did not like it at all.”
At the same time, it was goodbye rather than Hello for Shi Scott, Lovey James, Shannon Berthiaume and Katherine Winston.
Did you see the show? What did you think?
