Posted by on December 29, 2014 at 5:55 AM EST

Sam Woolf, 18, who was in the final five of Season 13 of American Idol, has independently released his first album, Pretend.

The teenager’s album was mixed, engineered and produced by Grammy winning Danny Blume, and features Cindy Mizzelle and Curtis King on backing vocals.

Currently, the record can be bought online at CD Baby, and it is due to go on sale via iTunes at a later stage.

Blume, who with Woolf co-wrote some of the five songs, gushed in a recent statement: “Sam is a natural singer whose soul and passion are undeniable in every note he sings. The lyrics are heartfelt and beautiful. And the delivery, melodic instinct and rock-solid guitar playing made this record a real joy to produce.”

The Bradenton, Florida, native funded the album partly by crowdfunding.

Have you had a chance to hear Pretend yet? If so, what did you think? Hit or miss?
