Here Comes Honey Boo Boo Canceled by TLC

Under fire: Embattled 'Mama' June Shannon, pictured with youngest Honey Boo Boo, emerged from her home in McIntyre, Georgia for the first time on Friday since news broke she is dating a child sex offender

It may have gripped the nation for a while, but it’s just been announced that TLC won’t be renewing the reality show Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, set in rural McIntyre, Georgia, and focusing on their precocious beauty pageant daughter whose name gives the show its title.

TLC has given no reason for canceling the show, and the network said in a bland statement that its “only priority” was “supporting the health and welfare of these remarkable children. We are committed to the children’s ongoing comfort and well-being.”

June Shannon has denied reports on a showbiz website that she was dating a convicted child molestor, a man June’s own daughter Anna claims molested her. Attempts to get in touch with a lawyer for this man have apparently been unsuccessful.

Here Comes Honey Boo Boo peaked in its second season, when it averaged some 2.4m viewers per epsiode. But by the time the fourth series ended this summer, numbers had decined to around 1.4m average viewers.

What do you think about all this? And are you glad to see the back of this show or sorry to see it go?
