Teresa Giudice: Halfway House Bid Rejected
It’s already been reported how Real Housewives of Jersey star Teresa Giudice has been sentenced to 15 months behind bars for fraud.
Now a judge has denied the reality TV cast member’s request to serve her time at the jail where Orange is the New Black’s fictional Litchfieldis set, Danbury Federal Prison in Connecticut. And the Bravo star claimed this would mean her four daughters could visit her more easily.
But, heartfelt letter notwithstanding, it seems the judge, Ester Salas, didn’t see fit to grant Giudice her wish.
As if all that wasn’t enough for the beleaguered Teresa, who previously also took part in Celebrity Apprentice, it seems her crisis manager Wendy Feldman has also quit at the same time.
The letter apparently said that Giudice’s former attorney didn’t ask for a particular jail at the time of sentencing, and that the star now wanted to amend this.
Danbury is low-security, and lets inmates receive visitors several times a week.
But now the sentence could be served behind bars in a camp-style jail instead of a higher security one in New York City.
Imprisonment, wherever it happens, will take place from January 5, so she even has time to enjoy the holidays with her family. Then husband Joe’s 41-month sentence begins after Teresa has served hers. That means the couple’s four daughters will always have one parent with them.
After he is freed, Joe, who is not a US citizen, also faces deportation.
