Death of ex-Idol Contestant Michael Johns, aged 35
We’re very sad indeed to have to report the death of former American Idol participant Micahel Johns, at the age of just 35. The cause is reported to be a blood clot which originated in his ankle.
He took part in the reality singing show on Fox in 2008, during its seventh season, in which he came eighth.
A joint statement put out by Fox, American Idol and its production companies said:
“Michael Johns was a huge talent, and we are deeply saddened by this news. He was part of our Idol family, and will be missed. We are thinking of and praying for his friends and family at this difficult time.”
Johns married the year before he took part in the show, and leaves a widow, Stacey Vuduris.
His album, Hold Back My Heart, was released on 2009, and the 2012 follow-up was an EP single, Love and Sex.
Paula Abdul, Randy Jackson and Simon Cowell, who have all served as judges on the show, paid their tributes to the singer on Twitter.
