$750,000 newcomer: Eileen and her husband actor Vince Van Patten at the 2014 Daytime Emmy Awards where she won Outstanding Lead Actress

Could it be that there’s a whole lot more drama in store for us on the next season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

One report this week says Emmy-winning soap actress Eileen Davidson, who’s 55, will be joining Bravo’s popular reality show for its upcoming fifth season after signing a deal worth $750,000.

Married to actor Vince Van Patten, Davidson joins old hands like Brandi Glandville, Kyle Richards, Lisa Vanderpump, Kim Richards and Yolanda Foster, alongside fellow newbies Lisa Rinna and Christine Chiu. She scooped a Daytime Emmy this year for Outstanding Leading Actress.

The ex-model had her big TV break in 1982 on The Young and the Restless, as Ashley Abbott. In 1993, she joined Days Of Our Lives in a starring role as Kristen DiMera. (Her fellow housewife Lisa Rinna is another veteran of that show, so the dynamics between the pair of them sure should be interesting.)

Davidson is one replacement for the vacancies left on RWOBH by Carlton Gebbia and Joyce Giraud, both of whom lost their contracts after season four because they didn’t connect with viewers.

As filming starts in Beverly Hills, many cast members are getting sizeable raises, with Lisa, Kyle and Yolanda on the most at $500,000, Kim and Lisa on $450,000 according to one production insider.

What do you think about the addition of Eileen Davidson – yay or nay?
