It’s a No Show for Former Reality Show Host Piers Morgan

Piers Morgan

He’s the British former newspaperman and talent show judge who took over the weeknight talk show Larry King Live just over three years ago after King retired.

Now CNN is pulling the plug on Piers Morgan Live after poor ratings, leaving 48-year-old Morgan, who has been on the judging panel of both America’s Got Talent and Britain’s Got Talent, possibly looking for a new job.

The show has struggled, with early audiences of two million falling to around 270,000.

The former editor of London newspaper The Mirror told media this side of the Atlantic that CNN President Jeff Zucker had decided to axe the program.

Morgan, famously once the subject of a petition to deport him from the US, says he is now in discussion with Zucker about what he might do with the station next, adding:

“Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues including guns, which has been very polarizing, and many in the audience are tired of me banging on about it.”

Plans for a replacement in the popular 9pm ET slot have yet to be confirmed, according to The New York Times.

And while the date of Morgan’s last show also remains to be seen, that could be within four weeks, say reports.

What do you think about Piers? Sorry to see him go and want more of Morgan? Or glad to see the back of him?

Funnily enough, his Twitter account says: “One minute you’re cock of the walk, next you’re a feather duster.” Never has that been more true.
