County music superstar Kenny Chesney is the newest in a growing number of musicians to see their latest album debut at the number 1 spot on the Billboard 200. Kenny Chesney’s new album Hemingway’s Whiskey is expected to sell between 180,000 and 200,000 copies during its first week of release.

This number 1 debut will be Kenny Chesney’s sixth number 1 record. The only country artist with more number 1’s is Garth Brooks who has a total of eight. It also shows that Chesney is holding on to his audience. His previous album, 2008’s “Lucky Old Sun” also debuted at number 1 with sales of 176,000 copies. Lil’ Wayne is expected to take the number 2 spot with his album “I’m Not a Human Being” expected to sell around 100,000 copies. That is a pretty impressive feat when you consider it is only going to be available in digital format (the actual CD won’t be in stores until October 12) and Lil’ Wayne is still in jail so he can’t do any kind of promotion.

Kenny Chesney is the newest in a line of artist who have seen their albums debut at number one. Recently we have seen Katy Perry, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Eminem and most recently Zac Brown Band all debuted at the number 1 spot. This is a big time of music sales as the industry rushes to get new titles out by hot artists in time for the start of the holiday shopping season.

Kenny Chesney has released twelve studio albums (including a Christmas album), one live album and two greatest hits albums. Ten of his twelve studio albums have been certified as going gold or better. Kenny Chesney is expected to tour in support of Hemingway’s Whiskey but no official dates have been released.
