Snakes Alive! Now Serpent Handling Preachers Get Reality Show
You’ve heard of snakes on a plane – now it’s reptiles in a church as Kentucky and Tennessee based serpent-handling preachers are set to get their own TV reality show.
It’s been reported in one of Tennessee’s state newspapers that National Geographic Channel will run Snake Salvation from Sept 10 at 8pm CDT. It seems that 16 programmes are planned.
The show focuses on pastors Andrew Hamblin of Tabernacle Church of God in the state’s Lafollette, alongside Gregory Jamie Coots of the Full Gospel Tabernacle in Jesus Name church of Middlesboro in Kentucky.
The latter has explained that the show will feature scenes from services in which reptiles are regularly handled, and the efforts of members of the congregation to live out their faiths in their daily lives.
Intriguingly, Coots was caught earlier this year, taking three rattlesnakes and two copperheads through Knoxville, Tennessee. The serpents were confiscated by wildlife officials.
