America’s Got Talent Fans Vote via Twitter

Posted by on July 24, 2013 at 8:23 AM EST

Hit NBC crooning talent show America’s Got Talent has become the first reality program toallow viewers to vote via Twitter. (Previously, X Factor USA permitted votes on the micro-blogging site, but only by direct messaging.)

The new rules were already in place for last night’s first live episode at Radio City Music Hall. Fans helped determine the first four artists to reach the semi-finals, using Twitter and the hashtag #voteAGT and the name of the act. Of course, it’s still possible to vote by phone or online.

The first live show was a huge success – we’re hooked!

Don’t forget to tune in to tonight’s results show (9pm ET), and catch Labrinth and Emeli Sandé as they perform Beneath Your Beautiful together during the broadcast.

Now in its eighth season, America’s Got Talent is judged by Howie Mandel, Mel B, Heidi Klum and Howard Stern, and its host is Nick Cannon.
