Could American Idol Winner Become Biggest Loser?

Posted by on July 3, 2013 at 6:00 AM EST

Ruben Studdard was victorious on American Idol – now he’s set to become part of the NBC reality show in which it’s all about losing rather than winning!

In fact, Studdard is set to aim to become The Biggest Loser of all as he joins the hit slimming and fitness program’s season 15 this fall.

We can’t wait (or should that be weight) to follow his progress. Here’s what Studdard, who turns 35 in September, had to say about the whole thing:

“My size isn’t a problem for me. But my family has a history of problems with health issues like diabetes, high blood pressure  and heart conditions. I’m still young but I want to fix things now.”

It seems hard to believe that it’s now just over 10 whole years since the R & B, pop and gospel singer rose to fame as victor in the second season of American Idol, all the way back in January 2003.

But in the years since then he’s been far from an American idle, releasing five studio albums. In 2008, he played Fats Waller in a national tour of Ain’t Misbehavin’.
