Paula Deen Diced with Controversy – Now is She Dancing with the Stars?
Controversy centering on alleged racism has caused any number of sponsors to part company with Paula Deen recently. But all may not be lost for the celebrity chef, for now it’s being reported that the ongoing scandal doesn’t matter one jot to reality hoofing show Dancing the Stars.
Yes, sirree, it’s being reported that the ABC reality program is currently wooing the lady to appear as a contestant on their upcoming 17th season.
Gossip or serious prospect? Hard to tell, but what we do know is that ABS isn’t confirming or denying the deal, merely saying that it doesn’t comment on “rumors” about casting, and will only confirm contestants when they are definitely going to appear in DWTS.
We also know that, back in 2010, Deen let slip that she turned down an invitation to appear, although she admitted to being a fan.
Her participation sure could help raise this show’s ailing rankings – let’s not forget it’s already been scaled down to one night a week. But at the same time ABC president Paul Lee has said he wants to bring in younger viewers – and that means younger contestants.
