American Idol: Tour Dates Cancelled
Hit crooning reality show American Idol has cancelled several dates from its previously popular summer gig tour in the wake of less than great ratings this past season.
At the back end of last week, reports were claiming that production company 19 Entertainment had announced the cancellation or rescheduling of nine dates for the Fox show’s tour, which traditionally features those who’ve taken part in the most recent season.
The North American tour will now launch on July 19 rather than the originally planned June 29, and lasts until the very end of August. Affected city stops include Kansas City, St Louis, Detroit, Minneapolis, Broomfield, Vegas, Tulsa and Oakland.
A spokesperson for the tour said: “The idols look forward to performing in 30 venues across the country.”
The 2013 tour will feature this season’s champ, Candice Glover, along with Amber Holcomb , Burnell Taylor, Kree Harrison, Aubrey Clealand, Devin Velez and Curtis Finch Jr.
In other Idol news, longtime executive producers Nigel Lythgoe and Ken Warwick are reportedly not returning for season 13, and Fox’s president in charge of alternative programming Mike Darnell is also leaving, after 18 years at the network.
