jimmy fallon justin timberlake history of rapOn Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, guest star Justin Timberlake and The Roots put on quite a show last night on NBC.

Last night, Jimmy Fallon, host of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon, invited special guests Justin Timberlake and The Roots and they gave us a lesson on the History of Rap on the late night talk show on NBC.

What all started off with Jimmy Fallon interviewing the musical-icon Justin Timberlake quickly turned into an epic song and dance taking us on a journey through the History Of Rap. While Justin Timberlake was on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon to promote his new film “The Social Network,” the musician turned movie star could not help but to praise The Roots who were the guest band.

It is at this point that Jimmy Fallon brings up Sugarhill Gang and all of the sudden; let the History of Rap performance began.

The Roots begin playing “Rappers Delight” and then it’s clear that they are doing a medley, chronicling the History of Rap. Jimmy Fallon, Justin Timberlake and The Roots cover the following artists in their history lesson: Sugarhill Gang, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Digital Underground, Snoop Dogg, Tupac Shakur (2pac), Biggie Smalls, The Roots, Eminem, Missy Elliot, A Tribe Called Quest, T.I., Rihanna, Kanye West, Soulja Boy and Jay-Z.

After the amazing performance by Justin Timberlake, Jimmy Fallon and The Roots was over last night I was left wanting more. I think Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake should actually think about making this a segment they do for each of the music genres.

After NBC and Jimmy Fallon of Late Night With Jimmy Fallon see how viral this video of the History of Rap with Justin Timberlake and The Roots has gone, they just might as well make more history lessons a reality.

Catch Late Night With Jimmy Fallon weeknights at 12:35/11:35c on NBC.
