Results Surprise on American Idol
The top four female finalists on Fox’s hit reality singing show American Idol all lived to sing another day after this week’s results program in this twelfth season.
Candice Glover, who’s 23 and from St Helena Island, SC, and Houston, Texas, girl Amber Holcomb, 18, ended up in the bottom two once home viewer votes were taken into account.
But judges Randy Jackson, Nicki Minaj, Mariah Carey and Keith Urban hadn’t used their one “save” of the season to keep any contestant in the running. (Until now they had not been unanimous in any decision to use the “save”, and so that option couldn’t be used.)
What this meant, explained host Ryan Seacrest (pictured) was that the contest still had an extra week in hand that was initially built into the schedule to take the judges’ “save” into account. So next week, the latest votes will be combined with whatever happens in next Thursday’s voting so that whoever gets the lowest in the total tally will be eliminated.
But, for now, Candice and Amber, along with Kree Harrison, 22 and from Nashville, Tennessee, and Angie Miller, 18, from Beverly, MA, can all breathe easy.
We can’t for next week’s show, which has a “now and then” theme.
