Paul Jolley Kicked Off American Idol as Top 8 Finalists Named
Wannabe crooner Paul Jolley has been sent home from Fox’s hit reality singing show American Idol this week in a live broadcast which determined the top eight finalists in season 12.
The 22-year-old from Palmersville, Tennessee, was the second finalist to be eliminated after bagging the lowest number of home viewer votes in a show featuring the top nine performers singing their favorite Beatles numbers.
“At a young age I realized this is what I wanted to do. Nothing is going to stop me. This experience has just been unbelievable,” he said in a video montage afterwards.
Jolley’s departure was made official when judge Randy Jackson said he and fellow judges Keith Urban, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj were not unanimously agreed on using “The Judges’ Save” to prevent the elimination.
In fact Minaj described Paul’s performance as “safe, bland and very forgettable.” Ouch!
Amber Holcomb, Devin Velez, Lazaro Arbos, Janelle Arthur, Candice Glover, Angie Miller, Burnell Taylor and Kree Harrison are still in the running for the coveted American Idol title.
