“I Lied about Military Injury” Admits American Idol Contestant
Matthew Farmer, an American Idol entrant, has fessed up to lying to judges about what he said was a military injury when he tried out for the hit reality talent show.
Farmer’s audition was shown last week, and in it the veteran claimed to the panel (made up, of course, of Keith Urban, Randy Jackson, Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj), he claimed to have suffered a traumatic injury following an IED explosion while he was serving in Iraq.
But now he has owned up online to the falsehoods, admitting he has a problem with lying and stating: “I have many things to work with and need a lot of help. I apologise to everyone I have hurt or lied to.”
It seems that Farmer was apparently sent home from war after having seizures from “unauthorized” taking of prescription drugs, and it’s been claimed that he did not see active service.
Farmer was advanced to the Hollywood rounds following his audition.
He has also claimed that American Idol took some things he said out of context, and insists he has not been paid for his story as it was used on the show.
And he says he has now left the competition completely.
