No Tour de Dance: Lance Armstrong Spurns Hit Reality Show
Reports have emerged that disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong has turned down a place on the upcoming season of hit hoofing reality show, Dancing with the Stars.
In fact, it’s also being claimed that the 41-year-old, who has been banned from competing, has declined to take part in the show every year it’s been aired.
Armstrong recently admitted in an emotional interview with Oprah Winfrey that banned performance-enhancing drugs were behind all seven Tour de France titles he bagged during his professional cycling career. The father of five had previously strenuously denied doping for over 10 years.
Given that Armstrong has apparently been invited on the ABC show every year, it seems that the heightened publicity he received in the wake of his doping confessions is not behind the latest offer.
And he is not the only disgraced celebrity to get the call – Lindsay Lohan reportedly turned down $550,000 to appear on Dancing with the Stars. So we can only guess at the money that was on the table for Armstrong, though, given the adverse press that would no doubt have followed a “Tour De Dance”, perhaps saying no was a wise move.
