Jillian Michaels: “I’m Not Doing a Popularity Contest”

It starts up again this weekend, and we’re pretty excited about the 14th season of The Biggest Loser, which airs on Sunday, Jan 6th, at 9pm ET/PT, and an hour earlier the following day.

Jillian Michaels returns as trainer with Bob Harper and Dolvett Quince, along with host Alison Sweeney.

There’ll be 15 adult contestants, who are to appear alongside a group of 13-17-year-olds – a first for the show. Helping the kids to reach their personal goals will be childhood obesity expert Dr Joanna Dolgoff.

Michaels told an interviewer that executive producer Lisa Hennessy was a huge reason for returning to the show.

And she described her input in participants’ lives as “life or death intervention”, adding: “I only use an intense, aggressive approach when I’ve exhausted all other options. People are essentially in rehab for a life-threatening food addiction, so we have a ticking clock – it’s not like we have three years.

“I’m not here to win a popularity contest, or to be liked. But we will be handling the children in a completely different way.”
