The Amazing Race Season 17 Premiere: Watermelons Away!
The Amazing Race Season 17 Premiere offers watermelon and lots of it.
Award-winning reality show The Amazing Race Season 17 airs Sunday night and it is already getting plenty of buzz.
Like all season’s past, The Amazing Race takes eleven teams and has them race around the world competing in all kinds of crazy challenges. Teams get eliminated throughout the race until one team is left to cross the finish line and win $500,000.
It is the challenges that have this season buzzing already. CBS released a clip earlier this month showing a contestant doing a challenge on The Amazing Race where they have to use a huge slingshot to fire small watermelons at a suit of armor. The contestant fires a couple of watermelons that are near misses. She then pulls hard, falls onto her back and lets the melon fly. It sticks in the slingshot, comes back and smashes her right in the kisser. It explodes on impact with her face, knocking her flat on her back. Shown in slow motion you can see the melon impact and explode. The contestant says she can’t feel her face and her entire head hurts worse than it ever has. In true Amazing Race fashion, when she asks her partner, “Now what do we do?” her partner tells her, “You have to finish.” The look on the just smashed in the face contestant’s face when she hears that is priceless. She looks like she just took another melon to the face.
The video has gone viral and I have to admit that I have watched it at least 20 times and it never gets old. I can’t wait to see it in the show and to find out what happens afterward when it airs on The Amazing Race Season 17.
The Amazing Race Season 17 promises to have all the elements that make the show great. There is sure to be drama, inter-team arguments and feuds, amazing scenery and some over-the-top challenges. There are sure to be teams that pull at your heart strings and teams you hate and want to see lose, but are good at the race so they stick around. The producers of this show have their formula down to a science. There is no reason to think this season will be any kind of let down from previous seasons and if the watermelon video is any indication, it could be a great season.
Be sure to catch The Amazing Race season premiere Sunday night at 8:30/7:30c on CBS.
